What is the charge on the anion in the coordination compound K2[Pt(NO2)2Cl2]? The pair of brackets “[‘” and “]” indicate the presence of a metal complex, and this collection of atoms/ions can be thought of as one molecular species (in this case an anion). Platinum is at the center of the complex with NO2 (through the N) and Cl forming coordinate bonds with the Pt.

Draw the Lewis structures of NO2 (nitro) and Cl. Circle the electron pair in each ligand that forms a coordinate bond (bond formed as in the reaction of a Lewis acid with a Lewis base; i.e. one atom or ion supplies both electrons in forming the covalent bond) with platinum in the metal complex in this compound. The coordinate bonds provide the valence electrons that determine the specific molecular geometry of this complex. There are two geometric isomers (cis- and trans-) for this complex. Does this fact eliminate any molecular geometries for this complex? Construct both isomers for this complex from the model kit and take pictures of each. Indicate the oxidation number and coordination number of Pt in this metal complex and the molecular geometry of this complex.

(don't need to do the model part)

please I need help with the data sheet INTRODUCTION The chemical and physical properties of substances are influenced by the way in which valence electrons are distributed and by the three-dimensional shape of the molecule or ion. X- ray and neutron diffraction, infrared, Raman and microwave absorption spectroscopy, as well as dipole moment measurements are used to ascertain the three-dimensional structure of a substance. Thus, techniques are available which can identify the geometry of substances. Results of these measurements generally...
