Why is shopping a form of marketing? What are some of the downsides associated with shopping as marketing?

ANS- Shopping can be regarded as a form of marketing because when a customer purchases product they will will show to their friends and relatives and marketing is placing the product in a way which attracts the customers so that they will buy the product. It refers to the activities which are undertaken to promote the buying or selling of products and when a customer purchases goods and show it to their friends then they are promoting that product and by telling them about their experience in using that certain product they are also compelling them to buy that product.

Some of the downsides associated with shopping as marketing are given below-

  • Sometimes it can result into the bad impression as the buyer of the product may show the product to their friend in such a way that it will create a negative impression in the other's person mind and that person might not consider to buy that company's product anymore in the future,
  • If one person has some conflict with the company then they will intentionally do the wrong advertisement of that company's products through their purchase so as to lower the sales of that company.
