Platics are basically polymers produced from petrochemical industries. They are based on number of carbon atoms. Plastics are manufactured mainly by two processes: Molding and Casting. Other manufacturing process include shearing and forming. Platics in manufacturing are very popular because they can be produced at minimal cost, light in weight and are very durable and can be easily molded into any shape and size.

The 10 attributes that make plastics viable in production are:

1. Economically Viable : Plastics can be produced at very low cost and can be used for variety of purposes. From packaging of products to formation of sheets and wires.

2. Flexible : As said earlier, plastics can be easily molded to any shape and size as they are very flexible.

3. Strength : Plastics are very strong and durable and can be used where metals cannot withstand the pressure and stress.

4. Profitability : Since, plastics are widely used in every aspect of our day to day routine, manufacturing plastics is highly profitable.

5. Less Resources : For production of plastics one need very less resources, as they are the biproduct of petrochemical industries and only a little processing is required to convert them to usable products.
