I run a scenic flight service here at Hobart International Airport.
We are currently expanding our aviation flight operations and hiring additional crew members. I see that you offer a course on human factors.
We have a few questions about that in regards to this SMS concept.
How does human factor integrate into an SMS program?
Should human factors training be just for cockpit crews, or should the entire organization receive human factors training?
Why would our managers need human factors training, or do they?
What’s new in risk management and this buy-in concept?
Thank you for your time. God speed!
- Jacqueline
1 .Human factor integrate into an SMS program as human lives are very precious and they can connect an emotional pitch with the professional well-being. Be it any adventure, human factor is always an integral part as humans existence is primary.
2. Entire organization is supposed to receive Human Factor Training as everyone should be ready and trained during emergency. This will teach crisis management. Also presence of mind and common sense of one could help the other.
3. Managers also need human factor training so as to connect with employees in the best possible way. This build emotional intelligence which will raise employee productivity and thereby help organization. Also in times of crisis and emergency, managers can guide and motivate the team on this aspect as well.
4. New in Risk Management : The two new parameters are Hazard identification and Risk assessment and mitigation. Hazard identification is through past experience history. Assessing the risk : analyzing it and preparing a mitigation and contingency plan for the same is an important parameter. Risk register should be prepared with all relevant fields.
