PLeases give your response to the following statements below! 1& 2 separately

1.

My own experience of the "let me sleep on it effect" was when I was indecisive weather not I wanted to go to Orlando or Atlanta for my birthday. I asked plenty of people but it was a challenge because it was like a tie and the people's point of view for both places was very persuasive. So one night I slept on it and my dream and thoughts helped a lot to choose, I picked Atlanta that next morning because I've always wanted to go to six flags and I've been to Orlando them parks so many times.

Yes, this has led to me making better decisions it gives me a brighter answer and I wouldn't have to stress myself out trying to pick a really hard decision.

It will be more beneficial to think consciously if there's an emergency you'll need to think that instant moment on what to do to help the situation.

2.

Do you feel this has usually led you to make better decisions?

When confronted on a difficult situation and after thinking about it for a while “let me sleep” effect does help to make better decisions and the reason why is. Often we tend to rush into things instead of being patient and that causes problems over time. This involves many scenarios including making purchases taking the time to think about what you're going to do would give you the benefit of the doubt to not second guess your decision after you’ve already made one.

And in what cases might it more beneficial to think consciously versus unconsciously?

A case where it is beneficial to think consciously then unconsciously when it comes to grocery shopping knowing what’s healthy and what’s not. But to think consciously about anything you would think unconsciously regardless

Answer #1
  1. Let me sleep on it effect or deliberation without awareness is a concept which refers to people who face difficulty in making decisions or choices put off the thought process and eventually take a decision in the future all of a sudden. I agree with the post that when we face a dilemma about what to choose, people would suggest whatever they like. At the outset, all the options may seem viable but it would cause more confusion if it lands on a tie or equal importance to all the choices. When one just keeps it out of mind, one would be able to decide on something eventually because their mind would keep working on it at the background without any conscious effort form the person.
  2. When one is faced with two or more equal choices one would be very confused about what to choose. This means, keeping things out of mind would send the information to the unconscious mind. There would be certain instances or events that would help one’s mind get illuminated to take one of the choices that one was considering. At times, it may be an entirely new choice which the person never considered. So, it’s always good to put off things for a while until one’s mind is convinced not by others but by oneself.
