The current Social media campaign is the Me Too movement that is triggered by feminists. It actually had its origins back in 2006, where Tarana Burke coined this phrase to help the women who were victims of sexual violence to voice the injustice they've endured. There have been a string of events that have helped this movement gain momentum during the 12 years of its existence. Several celebrities and ordinary women alike have come forth to talk about the sexual misdemeanor they faced. Hollywood Directors like Bryan Singer and Executive producer of "Girls" Murray Miller have also faced the wrath of this movement with female co-workers accusing them of sexual misconduct. These are just a few names, to begin with under the spree of sexual accusations that have sprung up under this movement.

The Me Too movement faced a lot of scrutiny in recent times, with several accusations being made supposedly only for "publicity purposes" Many influential personalities have tarnished the credibility of this movement due to utter misuse by female colleagues/coworkers who would just want "to get even" with their male associates. Several accusations have also failed to stand up to legal scrutiny and lack evidence. They also display inconsistencies in the claims of the victims.

This movement is gaining momentum throughout the globe with countries like Canada, UK, France etc joining the bandwagon. While there is considerable controversy revolving around the movement, the fact remains that it is one of the most widespread campaigns of modern times.
