Why would we want to investigate the amount of energy given off through alcohol combustion?
The combustion of organic compounds emits large amount of
energy. A good fuel gives large quantities of energy when burnt in
the presence of Oxygen. Alcohol (CnH2n+1OH) can be used as a fuel
but we need to investigate to find out what makes it a right fuel,
Thus, "by increasing the number of carbon atoms in an alcohol
chain, the respective enthalpy of
combustions is expected to become more negative". If it's possible,
we could use alcohol as a alternate fuel which can be renewed.
hope the answer helps.
Why would we want to investigate the amount of energy given off through alcohol combustion?
