A pump test at site produces the following results:

Flow 192 m³/h, Total head 70m, Impeller Ø243mm, power draw from a 2900rpm, 55kW motor = 45.9kW.

Production want to increase the flow rate to 210 m³/h and as the responsible engineer you have to inform them of the changes necessary to meet their new requirement.

  1. What size impeller do you need to fit to produce the higher flow rate?
  2. Can you still use the existing 55kW motor?
