Answer: The virtual teams are becoming more popular because of the rise of the technology. But such teams do not become successful until they are strategically and tactically designed and managed. For the purpose of successfully managing a virtual team the following steps should be taken

1. The first step that is required is selection of the right platform for a virtual team. There are a number of technical platforms that offers a range of communication tools for running a virtual team. It is essential that a platform offering the communication tools that are suitable for the nature of the virtual team is selected. This enables the managers and the team members to successfully communicate which helps in the better management
2. Creating clear deliverable and expectations so that the team members know about what they need to do
3. Select the right people who have adequate skills for handling the technological platforms and have an ability to work in virtual team environment
4. Setting monitoring mechanisms like performance matrices and regular meeting also helps in better management of the team
5. The virtual teams once in a while should also meet each other face to face this encourages better communication and co ordination between them.
