Language to a much extent affects self-concept. Self-concept is built up of the knowledge about ourselves thus a lot of factors influences and creates our own self-concept. These factors may be our environment, the society, people who knows us, motivation in life etc.

Language is one of the key components that affects are self-concept. A good command over verbal language and an ability to convey things and get people convinced gives a good impression which translate into self-concept. People having good command over languages are appreciated. Having knowledge of many languages play greater role and improves own personality and self-esteem. People motivation remains high they are able to use language in the right way.

Popular leaders for example have been good speakers and had good commands over language. They could connect with people through the use of the language and this resulted the people reverting back with praise and respect which would have made these leaders to have good self-concept about them.
