Do you feel the company's communication approach was effective? Why or why not? What would you have done the same and what would you have done differently?
The latest scandal can be seen in the form of Facebook–Cambridge Analytica data scandal which was broke down in the early part of 2018 when it came in to the public scene that the personal data of millions of account holders of Facebook was used without their consent by Cambridge Analytica in order to use it for political advertising purposes. This created a lot of rifts both in the public and political scenario. In fact, the CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg had to present in front of the Congress Committee.
I think the company tried its best to sympathize with the account holders by realizing press briefs and facilitating how his data breach resulted. However, it did not convince the public in general and many account holders deactivated their profile.
If I were to handle this issue, I would have explained the account holders and the government that the company has taken every possible method and step and I would invite the representatives of the government and various consumer committees to explain and present y opinion. I would also publish full-page advertisement in newspaper and telecast some ads on TV and radio.
Along with this, I would also invite the customers from different communities and countries to make them understand the reasons behind this breach and the steps taken by the company to deal with this situation in the future.
