A converging lens has a focal length of 28.0 cm. An object is located a distance do to the left of it in such a way that the image formed is magnified 2.5 times (that is, the image height is 2.5 times larger than the object height).
a) Find the relationship between the object’s location (do) and the image’s location (di). That is, find an equation numerically relating do to di.
b) Use your previous result as well as the information given in the problem to find the value of do.
c) Use your previous result to find di.
d) Describe the image: real, virtual, upside down or upright, closer or further away from the lens than the object? Explain why.
e) If it was desired that the magnification was 4 instead of 2.5, should the object move closer to the lens, or further from it? Explain why and use previous answers.
