In your opinion,in light of American history, does the story-line of Shakespeare's Othello as is "work" for modern American audiences? Would you have made changes to the characters and/or plot, or are people being too sensitive?

For a 21st century audience Othello is a story of domestic abuse. But this is pretty vague for today's time in a way that people have so many options to choose from. Women are so independent, earning, have a good life style and more importantly they have their own individuality. This sums up to call them a person with will and determination and no less than a man. So if she encounters the situation like the play, she would simply step up, say no for things and just take a next step. She will not bear anything and rather try to be bold and brave. Although there do exist women who are non of these but then we have to understand that the situations have gone better with time and we are at peace with things that happen around.
