Answer #1

answer-

The manager of tody's time is literally different from the time 50 years ago because Today's manager needs to enhance its skills to very much more extent and knowledge which gives the manager an ability to sustain and lead the business to success. The skills which are needed today are-

1. Communication

As a manager, you need to be able to clearly and succinctly explain to your employees everything from organizational goals to specific tasks. manager must master all forms of communication, including one-on-one, departmental, and full-staff conversations, as well as communication via the phone, email, and social media.

2. Motivational skills-

managers need to inspire their workers to go the extra mile for their organizations; just paying a fair salary to employees is typically not enough inspiration (although it is important too). There are a number of ways to motivate your workers: you may build employee self-esteem through recognition and rewards, or by giving employees new responsibilities to increase their investment in the company.

3.Creative skills-

As a Manager, you have to make a number of decisions that do not have a clear answer; you therefore need to be able to think outside of the box.

Learning to try nontraditional solutions, or approaching problems in nontraditional ways, will help you to solve an otherwise unsolvable problem. Most employees will also be impressed and inspired by a leader who doesn't always choose the safe, conventional path.It includes skills like

  • Analytical
  • Cognitive flexibility
  • Conceptualization
  • Critical thinking

4.Feedback

Managers should constantly look for opportunities to deliver useful information to team members about their performance. However, there is a fine line between offering employees advice and assistance, and micromanaging. By teaching employees how to improve their work and make their own decisions, you will feel more confident delegating tasks to your staff.

Employees will also respect a manager who provides feedback in a clear but empathetic way. Some skills for giving clear feedback include:

  • Being open to receiving feedback
  • Building confidence in employees
  • Clarity
  • Clearly laying out expectations
  • Coaching
  • Following up

Good time management

Managers are often expected to complete work to deadlines. They must therefore manage the time of their teams and themselves and prioritise work so that projects are completed to deadline.

Administrative and financial skills

Managers will usually be expected to set budgets, manage them and carry out other admin such as writing reports. For this, they will need good numeracy, literacy and computer literacy skills.

Leadership

Being a leader involves persuading others to follow the direction you want to go in. As such managers lead by example, have reasonable expectations of their staff and are excellent persuaders.

Yes, these skills are totally different from managers who manage the business 50 years ago because at that time competition was low and a manager requires only limited skills like planing and controlling but today manager has to cover all the areas from top to bottom to be effective in current corporate world.

Today, manager is not different from leader because A manager has to be a leader in order to take work from its employee in positive manner and lead them to success but we can say that leader can be different from manager because leader not necessarily be a business manager. leader can be political leader who does not have knowledge of business but still a leader because he has leadership skills.

Management strategies are techniques that are used to direct and control an organization to achieve a set of goals. They include strategies for leadership, administration and business execution. The following are examples of management strategies.

Assigning tasks to people that are tracked with a lightweight process such as meeting minutes or a team task list

Alignment of goals and strategy at the organization, department, team and individual contributor levels. Avoids wasting resources on personal projects that distract from core priorities.

Benchmarking is the comparison of your team's capabilities, processes, metrics or targets to standard industry results or a top competitor in your industry.

Administering a budget, managing budget risk and reporting variances. etc.

there are some leadership styles which are-

Transactional leadership is focused on group organisation, establishing a clear chain of command and implementing a carrot-and-stick approach to management activities.

Transformational leadership style Often considered among the most desirable employees, people who show transformational leadership typically inspire staff through effective communication and by creating an environment of intellectual stimulation.

servant leadership style

People who practice servant leadership prefer power-sharing models of authority, prioritising the needs of their team and encouraging collective decision-making.

Democratic Leadership

In this leadership style, subordinates are involved in making decisions. Unlike autocratic, this headship is centered on subordinates’ contributions. The democratic leader holds final responsibility, but he or she is known to delegate authority to other people, who determine work projects.

Strategic Leadership Style

Strategic leadership is one that involves a leader who is essentially the head of an organization. The strategic leader is not limited to those at the top of the organization. It is geared to a wider audience at all levels who want to create a high performance life, team or organization.

i would adopt the transformational leadership style because it is the one in which i can show my leadership skills while inspiring and leading my followers or employees without making them feel that they are not important.
