your sweetheart is of a different race and culture. Your parents do not approve of the up coming marriage
Everyone is unique and has their own needs and issues. Deciding for oneself without worrying about what others think is associated with confidence and clarity. Although one has the freedom to marry someone he/she wants, it’s very important that one convinces one’s parents because starting one’s new life in pain and struggle may not be meaningful. Parents would understand the struggle of their children and if their son/daughter waits for their permission to get married, at one point they would come down and accept one’s sweetheart. It’s all about making them valued and respected but only thing is that one should wait.
