• Is it easier for a tree to get water from clay soils (high soil particle surface area) or from sandy soils (low soil particle surface area), assuming that both soils saturated.
• Is it easier for a tree to get water up to the leaves on a rainy day or a sunny day, and on a hot day or cool day (assuming that the air temperature and humidity is the same)?
• In the northwest, what time of year do you think water is most easily and rapidly transpired by the trees. Why?

Clay soils have more capacity to hold water than the sandy soil. This is due to smallest size of particles of clay soils. This is beneficial for plants to get more water from the soil. Therefore, clay soil is the correct answer.

Answer 2:)

In rainy day, water already present in leaves as the droplets or raining water. Therefore, plants do not need to transpire water to leaves as compare to other days. In sunny day plants need to transpire water up to leaves because there is sufficient water is not present in the form of rain.

In hot day, trees transpire more because of excess evaporation. However, in cool days due to the lesser evaporation, trees transpire lesser water with little effort.

In the northwest regions, spring season is the best time for the efficient transpiration. During this time, the air is semi-humid and semi-arid, which enhances transportation rate but keeps trees moist too.
