Answer #1

Answer:

BeO will have the largest lattice energy.

Explanation:

The lattice energy depends on the attraction between the oppositely charged ions.

The force of attraction F is directly proportional to the charges (q1 and q2) on the two ions and on the distance r between them.

F= ( q1 × q2 ) / r

The distance between the charges r is the sum of the ionic radii.

r=ranion+rcation.

And, since the attraction depends on the product of the charges, we look for ions with the greatest charge.

In all given case  the charges are +2 and -2, so the the smallest ions will be able to get closest to each other because lattice energy is inversely proportional to radius.

so the ion which will have the smallest radius size will have the largest lattice energies.

The smallest ions are at the top of the Periodic Table.[ note: As you move down a group the ions get larger hence lattice energy decreases ]
