The weight of the fruit of one variety of squash is determined by three pairs of genes: AAB-BCC, producing 6-pound squashes and aabbcc, producing 3 pound squashes. Each dominant gene adds 1/2 pound to the weight. When a 6 pound squash is crossed with a 3 pound squash, all of the offspring weighed 4.5 pounds. What would be the weights of the F2 fruits if two of these F1 plants were crossed?

A homozygous variety of opium poppy (Papaver somniferum Laciniatum) with lacerate leaves was crossed with another homozygous variety with normal leaves. All the Fj had lacerate leaves (jagged-edged leaves). Two F1 plants were crossed to produce the F2. Of the F2, 249 had lacerate leaves and 16 had normal leaves. How are lacerate leaves determined in the opium poppy? two genes, with a dominant allele at either or both loci one gene, with codominant alleles at a single locus two...

Please provide details: White fruit color in summer squash is governed by a dominant gene (W) and colored fruit by its recessive allele (w). Yellow fruit is governed by an independently assorting hypostatic gene (Y) and green by its recessive allele (y). The weight of the nut of a commercially valuable species was determined to be under the control of two genes. Each locus can be occupied by either an additive or non-additive allele, and the effect of the additive alleles is approximately equal. In a population study, two true-breeding strains were isolated where the weights were 10.0 g and 13.2 g, respectively. Assuming that these strains represent the upper and lower levels of nut weight, predict * a) the weight of...

    5. In Mendel's experiments, the pod color gene and the seed shape gene were located on different chromosomes (in other words, they were not linked. They assort independently). Green pods (G) are dominant over yellow pods (g) and tall stems (T) are dominant over dwarf stems (t). You are given two true breeding plants (homozygous at both genes). In the parental (P) generation, one parent has green pods and dwarf stems and the second parent has yellow pods and tall...

All of their offspring (F1) had red eyes and long wings. In Cross 2, one of the F1 offspring is mated to a fly with yellow eyes and short wings, and this cross gave the following F2 population: 194 flies with long wings and red eyes, 796 flies with...
