Fossil fuels are the primary source of energy on earth. Fossil fuels are hydrocarbons in nature and they are formed from the organic materials by natural process.For the production of fossil fuels process takes place is mining, drilling,burning dirty material etc. This process shows negative impact on our health and environment also. Coal, petroleum and natural gas are some examples of Fossil fuels.

• Coal is a solid rock which is form of hydrocarbons. Coals are having much higher carbon than petroleum. They are having high relative energy density. Coal is formed during million years of process when dead plant materials decays in the soil at high heat pressure it is converted in form of coal.
• Petroleum is a flammable liquid mineral found below the earth's surface. They are also high relative energy density. It is liquid form of hydrocarbons that is present in certain rocks and it is extracted through machineries below the surface then after refined to produce fuels. Petroleum fuels also includes diesel oils, kerosene, gasoline.
• Natural gas is a vapor gas and it is found deep within the earth.When organic material is exploaded at high pressure, it is broken down into hydrocarbons and creates natural gas. They are very flammable in nature. Natural gas consists mostly of methane and hydrocarbons or ethane and it used specially for cooking and heating.
