One’s personality may not be adequate for a long term successful career in a company. Business works in a dynamic environment where only the person with skills and talent would survive. Having a good personality may not help the business run the business. Personality is simply a trait that that is displayed by an individual in an organization. You may be able to survive in your role for a short period of time, but with challenging demands of the business your importance will get low and you become obsolete.
Clearly one’s skills and talent is the main factor that determines a successful career for the individual. Personality is also equally important when growing up the ladder but never a career development factor. You may be able to survive with the support of others to a point where your skills is required to work on specific tasks and where support from colleagues may not be helpful.
If help may be provided, one need to start acquiring the skills required to do the job by doing on the job training and external training. Your personality has kept you in lime light but not forever. Once you are able to acquire some skills, you will be able to perform and keep up with the growing changes the organization requires you to perform.
