Question

Can the velocity a SH wave be found with either v = ω/k or v= λ*frequency?...

Can the velocity a SH wave be found with either v = ω/k or v= λ*frequency? Are these equations interchangeable ?

For a wave with the equation D(x,t) = 0.22 sin(5.6x+34t)

The results are different based on the formula. They are respectively v=6.07 and v=6.048.

Answer #1

is same as v = ( frequency ) because k is given by

the given equation D(x,t) is of the form , D(x,t) = A sin(k x + t)

Hence if D(x,t) = 0.22 sin(5.6x + 34 t) , then k = 5.6 m-1, = 34 rad /s

hence velocity v

if we use other formula

    12. A longitudinal standing wave can be created in a long, thin aluminum rod by stroking the rod with very dry fingers. This is often done as a physics demonstration, creating a high-pitched, very annoying whine. From a wave perspective, the standing wave is equivalent to a sound standing wave in an open-open tube. In particular, both ends of the rod are anti-nodes. What is the fundamental frequency of a 2.50 m -long aluminum rod? The speed of sound in...

Please explain every step as clearly and detailed as possible. B Frequency Response Modeling Frequency response modeling of a linear system is based on the premise that the dynamics of a linear system can be recovered from a knowledge of how the system responds to sinusoidal inputs. (This will be made mathematically precise in Theorem 13.) In other words, to determine (or iden- tify) a linear system, all one has to do is observe how the system reacts to sinusoidal...
