What is the difference between persuading someone to believe a claim and giving them reasons to accept it? Can a good argument be persuasive? Why or why not?

In fact, persuading and giving reasons to believe something have been interchangeably used. But there is a slight difference between the two ways.

In case of persuading a person, the motive/ intention is to imbibe/ inject your own supposition/ belief/ faith by any means. In this case, the rationality behind the attempt may be questionable and there are allied possibilities of the unethical aspects.

On other hand, when the motive/ intention is giving/ providing reasons to accept, the entire focus is on coming up with good reasons that can be justified and there are no unethical implications. Further, the audience are with a choice/ freedom to either accept or deny the reason with there own conscience and reasoning capabilities.

A good argument can definitely be persuasive if it reflects relevance, sufficiency, purpose, motivation, credibility, accuracy, acceptability and an urge to offer contentment. It may even be viewed with the possibility of creating a win- win situation.
