Some viral genes rely on frameshifts that alter the stop codon. Find one example and explain the details of the mechanism.
Question
A frameshift is a mutation that alter the reading frame of the genetic codon due to addition or deletion of one or more nucleotide in the codon. Some virus cause the disease that alter the stop codon and therefore result in the formation of new polypeptide sequence that have another stop codon. This new polypeptide cause disease to the host. For example, Epstein-Barr virus, associated with causing human cancer alter the stop codon and lead to the formation of proteins that cause cancer.

Find one example of an anti-cancer or anti- viral drug (other types of drugs are also okay) that has at least one chiral center in its structure. Write a brief overview of how this drug used and why it is effective (cite source!). Draw its structure and mark all the stereocenters with a star. Assign each stereocenter as R or S (in case the drug is used as a racemic mixture you can show one of the stereoisomers as...
Some genes are transcribed using one strand of DNA as the template, while other genes are transcribed using the other strand. Explain how this is possible and why this is advantageous to the cell, and for storing genetic information.
Using one example of each class of gene, explain how mutations in tumour suppressor genes and oncogenes can lead to alterations in cell signalling pathways, and contribute to cancer development.
Explain how changes in wealth, the price level, interest rates, and expectations alter the consumption curve. Pick an example of one of the changes above and explain what happens. For example, if you were to suddenly inherit some money (increased wealth), how would that affect your consumption curve?
Find and explain an example of some programming processing task that demonstrates one of the common growth rate functions. For example, the constant time function describes a task in which the work steps are the same regardless of the amount of input. The linear time function describes a task in which the work steps grow just as much as the input size does ('1 for 1'). The quadratic time function describes a task in which the work steps grow by...

Choose the true statement about housekeeping genes in Escherichia coli. Housekeeping genes are constitutively expressed. A housekeeping gene's expression should stop when the cell is placed in a different environment. Most of E. coli's genome encodes housekeeping genes. Examples of housekeeping genes in E. coli include antibiotic resistance genes and lactose catabolism genes. Choose the frameshift mutation that is the riskiest for a prokaryotic cell. A deletion of three DNA nucleotides from the DNA template strand A deletion of one...
