Answer #1

Server: It is a device which helps in processing and memory management for various activities carried out throughout the globe.

It comes in three dimensions: Racks server, Blades Server and Mainframe Server

All the three types are supported for Backup. Also, the various operating systems also supports these server.

In my perspective, I will choose Windows Operating System for building the backup server. Because windows is user friendly, and many types of backup software can be installed without any limitations.

Ex: IDrive, BackBlaze etc

Aspects of Hardware that should support backup server are:

  • Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster.
  • RAM: 2 GB (64-bit)
  • Free hard disk space: 16 GB.
  • Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver.
