A company is working on a project with three physically connected groups (LAN). To speed up the project process, the administrator needs to move two engineers from one group to another group. The network technician who works on ‘rewiring’ is not available. What is the best solution for this issue? Explain in your own words. List two features of your suggested solution.

In the bigger organizations, Virtual LAN (VLAN) are used to divide group logically at layer 2. for example, if you want to have 3 departments on same switch then you can assign certain number of ports to the respective group. By this , the groups will remain isolated from each other i.e a frame broadcast  in one group will not received by another group.

now, in this scenario rewiring is not possible therefore VLANs can be used (assuming all groups are in different network)

we will assign the switch ports, attached to those 2 engineers PC ,with the vlan number of new group in which they will be shift.

2 features of using VLAN

• No physical shifting is required
• flexibility is provided as when the engineers will come back in original group, only those switch ports will be assigned to original group VLAN number
• also reduced cost as no additional wires and equipment required.
