Criticisms may be positive or negative and listening to criticisms is difficult. Through constructive criticisms, there are lots of room for growth. Through constructive criticisms, we can learn how to be a good communicator.

Active listening, socio-emotional intelligence, and appropriate response strategies help deal with criticism in the following manner-

1. Active Listening: Listening is a difficult process and when we are listening to criticisms it is more difficult. Therefore when we are listening to the criticisms we have to be very active and listen with our open heart what the speaker is trying to convey and summarize the speaker's thoughts, formulate the questions and draw connections between what the communicator is speaking and what we already know. In this manner, we empathy others and see the world from their perspective. and also encourage critics to share their perceptions more freely. In this manner, we will gain more insights and become broad-minded.
2. Socio-emotional intelligence: It is the ability to be aware of your own emotions and feelings in a moment and use that perceived information to lead yourself and others. When we receive criticisms and we are emotionally intelligent we then have the ability to identify what we are feeling, we are able to interpret our emotions and understand how their emotions are impacting others and regulate accordingly and also regulate other peoples emotions.
3. Appropriate Responsive: When we are listening to the criticisms we should listen to it being an active listener and respond calmly in a respectful manner no matter what. Criticisms should not be taken personally, rather it should be used in a constructive manner and should be able to manage the stress and while listening to the criticisms it should be kept in mind that it is their views and suggestions.
