Please post a lab report for growing recombinant bacteria
If a foreign DNA is inserted into the DNA of bacterium, then it is called recombinant DNA, and such DNA containing bacteria are called recombinant bacteria.
Insertion of foreign gene into bacteria is carried out by transformation technique.
Generally the foreign gene is inserted into the bacterial plasmid DNA.
For which, both the foreign gene of our interest and bacterial plasmid are cut with the same restriction endonuclease.
Then by using ligase enzyme plasmid DNA and foreign gene of our interest are ligated. Thus, recombinant DNA molecule is formed.
Now this Recombinant DNA molecule is allowed to enter into bacteria of our interest. This process is called Transformation.
After Transformation is completed, the transformed bacteria or transormants or recombinant bacteria are selected by using antibiotic plates.
Successful transformants or recombinant bacteria do survive on antibiotic plates.
Thus, recombinant bacteria are made.

DISCUSSION POST #2 If bacteria are grown on plates with ampicillin and X-gal, explain which color colonies, white or blue, would contain bacteria with recombinant plasmid.
Please post a lab report for analyzing the plasmid DNA extracted
Hi Could anyone please post a lab report for the following topic " Southern Blotting' The lab report should also have the following criteria Introduction, Aims, Principle, procedure, and results(if possible).
A microbiologist conducts an experiment to create a recombinant strain of bacteria that is resistant to penicilin. He plates out the bacteria on an agar plate, and picks out 10 colonies each of which consists of clones of a different individual bacterium. He knows that the probability of successfully creating a recombinant per individual bacterium is 0.15. What is the probability that if he mixes all 10 colonies in a growth medium with penicillin something will grow?
