IMPORTANCE OF NEGOTIATION:

Negotiation skills are important in both informal day to day interactions and formal transactions.Some of the Negotiation techniques involve paying attention to timing, ramping up your listening skills, preparing beforehand, anticipating compromising.

ELEMENTS OF A GOOD NEGOTIATOR:

1. Compassion and people skills

2. Social Skills

3. Powerful interaction skills

NEED OF POWER IN NEGOTIATION:

Power is critical to improve the negotiated outcomes.

The three main sources of NEGOTIATION POWER:

1. A Strong Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement

2. Role Power

3. Psychological Power

If the focus is on building the power from as many sources as possible, it can help steer any negotiation. At the minimum, before entering into any negotiation, it is advisable to focus on these three sources to help to increase the power. Also, it should be kept in mind that the power has everything to do with psychology.
