A cell is an open thermodynamic system which keeps on interacting with its environment by exchanging energy and matter for it's survival . A cell is said to be living if all the cellular processes like respiration , movements and metabolism is going on at regulated pace.Mostly ATP molecules are synthesised by mitochondria in eukaryotic cells and enzymatic machinery in cytosol of prokaryotes . ATP molecules are the energy provider for most of the reactions in the cell . Enzymatic reactions like glycolysis which generate ATP itself require ATP molecules for some of its reaction . Transport of molecules and ions requires ATP driven transporters . Movement of kinesin along cytoskeletal elements like actin fibres require ATP molecules and same is required for contraction of muscle cell. Synthesis of food in plant cell also demands energy molecules .ATP molecules are thus required to maintain homeostasis in cell without which cell will not be able to maintain its integrity and both internal or external negative factor will cause its destruction . A cell has to be in steady state otherwise it will come at equilibrium with its surrounding (death). Every cell has a constant internal environment which is to be maintained by regulating entry and exit of different molecules . ATP also help in such regulation.
why would a cell die if it could not make ATP? 100 - 200 word response
100 to 200 word response. would a plant grow faster in a room painted blue or in a room painted green? explain your answer.
100-200 word response. Explain why each of the following misconception about photosynthesis (a) Only plants are autorophs. (b) Plants do not need cellular respiration because they carry out photosynthesis. (c) chorophyll is only plant pigment.
Would an ATP synthase taken from a bacterial cell work in a eukaryotic cell? Why?
What hypothetical mutation could you make to any mechanism so that when a cell replicates its DNA, the cell will die after? Think of two mutations. This is just 100% hypothetical and you could make up any mutation to any mechanism in replication, such as a beta clamp not working or something along those lines.
When a cell breaks down glucose to produce ATP lots of hydrogen ions are produced. When a lot of hydrogen ions are present in a solution, that solution is an acid. If a lot of acid is present a cell would die. How does a living cell get rid of all the hydrogen ions that id produces while making ATP? It combines the hydrogen ions with oxygen to make water. It uses the hydrogen ions to produce the carbon dioxide...
Why is ATP the major energy currency of the cell, instead of GTP? Select one: a. We don’t know. Either molecule could fill this role. b. Adenine is more common in the environment. c. ATP is higher in energy than GTP. d. None of the above are true. e. All of the above are true.
Why would it not make sense to study a cell in G0 such as a human adipocyte/fat cell?
These two questions are related to a Criminal Justice Organization. I need 200 word response for each. How can you prepare yourself to become an effective change agent? Provide an example of a change that you would make in your organization, if you had the power to do so. Select an entry-level position in your organization. Design and post a new set of responsibilities and attributes that person should have in the year 2025.
Would an ATP synthase taken from a bacterial cell work in a Eukaryotic cell?
1) It takes 7.30 kcal mol^-1 to make ATP from ADP + Pi. Assuming 100% efficiency, how many moles of ATP could be synthesized per mole of NADH
