answer-
I worked in a hospital with more than 50 employees. I was a Nurse in that hospital. There was union of staff like nurses because of the reason that Nurses are facing over time and not getting paid fairly. They are also facing unfair management practices like poor working place for nurses as they have no proper room for sitting and they have to run here and there. There were also poor wages for nurses so this is why union was required.
The benefits to employees due to this union is that nurses start to get fair wages after collective bargaining of union. Union helps employees to fight for their rights. They start to get less pressure and burden of work. The benefits to the hospital is that nurses started to show good performance. institution did not face legal issues anymore after union.
The disadvantages to nurses is that Nurses and other employees have to pay union fees to join the union. Unions can cause loss of freedom as union leader decide and manage so individual interest is lost. The disadvantages of union to institution is that Increase cost of business due to increase wages, training etc to employees.
This hospital is worse off without union because the employee turnover was high before union and hospital was facing legal issues before union so it is in good condition with union.
