Explain how a historian would be likely to view the accounts contained in the four Gospels. Be very detailed.
For a historian, it does not come under their purview to offer a claim of whether Jesus was the son of God or not. A historian will only study the interconnected events and outcomes owing to an even. In the four gospels, the historian can tell you what each disciple of Jesus thought, but the historian cannot tell you which person was right about their theological beliefs. The historian can tell you that Jesus died on the cross and can tell you the circumstances surrounding his death, however, the historian, as a historian, cannot tell you that Jesus’ death was for the sins of the world. The comment will come under a theological judgment which is supposed to be made by theologians.
From the four Gospels, the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke are the synoptic gospel The three Gospel are called synoptic from a Latin word, and this means that the three gospels are “seen together,”. This is because the synoptic Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke tell many of the same stories, either in the same words or frequently following the same order. Therefore, a historian would account Matthew, Mark, and Luke in parallel columns next to each other to compare their stories with one another. In doing this, the historian will see whether they’re telling the same story. Thus, if found coherent the three gospels are categorized under synoptic because they can be seen together.
