Please help me solve this, I need it for my lab. I need to calculate the amount of trans-cinnamic acid equivalent to 4mmol. I do not know how to do this.

NOTE: You are responsible for calculating the amount of trans -cinnamic acid (in grams) equivalent to 4 mmol. You must have this done before you enter the lab.

***I need this for my lab which is using bromine and trans-cinnamic acid to create 2,3-dibromo-3-phenlypropanoic acid

This is the step that mentions trans-cinnamic acid:

Assemble a 50 mL round-bottom flask with a Claisen head, reflux condenser, and addition funnel. Into the round-bottom flask, add trans -cinnamic acid (4 mmol) and 10 mL of methylene chloride. Add a stir bar.

Please help answer P1-P4 for this Perkin Reaction Lab Perkin Reaction Organic REActivity PERKIN REACTION (ALDOL CONDENSATION) The Reaction Scheme: Formation of trans-cinnamic acid The following reaction is named the Perkin Reaction. It is a very specific type of Aldol condensation that forms a variety of cinnamic acid derivatives. In this lab, you will perform a Perkin reaction using benzaldehyde and potassium carbonate in acetic anhydride to form trans- cinnamic acid (1). Trans-cinnamic acid is a natural compound found in...

Hello, I have a question about my post lab report. I used .1g of trans-3-phenyl-2-propanoic acid and 1.5mL of methylene chloride. Later I added 0.8mL of 1M bromine solution to it. I ended up getting the anti stereoisomer of 2,3-dibromo-3-phenylpropanoic acid. The product that I ended up weighing out was 0.0380g. Can you please calculate out the % yield for it? Thanks!

Synthesis of dimedone This lab exercise will give you practical experience with the generation of a malonic ester enolate and subsequent reaction with an a,p-unsaturated carbonyl compound. This sequence is known as the Michael reaction. In the presence of sodium methoxide, dimethyl propanedioate (malonic ester/dimethyl malonate) is converted to the corresponding enolate anion and reaction with 4-methylpent-3-en-2-one (mesityl oxide) affords the Michael adduct 1, as shown in the reaction sequence below. Under the basic reaction conditions, the Michael adduct 1...

Please calculate the percent yield if my actual yield was 0.06g NUCLEOPHILIC DISPLACEMENT- FORMATION OF AN ETHER BY AN SN2 REACTION Bond formation by use of an SN2 reaction is very important for organic and biological synthesis. Many new bonds formed make use of this versatile reaction pathway. In this reaction, one partner is the nucleophile and the other partner is the electrophile. The electrophile will have a leaving group that will be lost in the reaction. In the SN2...
