Nike is an USA based multinational company which is in marketing and sale of footwear, apparel, equipment, accessories etc. The company is known for its products of unique design, development and manufacturing process. The company has global presence. The Nike‘s major business comes from sports shoes and apparel. Nike has product differentiation and has its own brand value with the growing awareness about the fitness and sports worldwide, the demand of sports shoes and fitness apparel is increasing. The brand is consistent in its quality and performance. It has global marketing strategy and able to manage consistent consumer experience throughout the world. It is meeting the expectation of the customers so it has a pool of loyal customers worldwide.

Like Nike, Adidas is also doing business in sports shoes and apparel industry. Both companies have their product differentiation strategies and have own brand value. Within this industry type, Nike is more consolidated as they have largest market share of the industry in comparison to other players. Adidas is second largest player but has only almost half market share in comparison to Nike. Adidas has aggressive marketing strategy and growing faster than the Nike in recent years. Adidas is growing almost two times faster than Nike so it can give tough competition to Nike in near future.

This industry is a fragmented industry as there are many players in the industry giving competition to each other. Nike is the biggest player of this industry and has good brand value in the market therefore it has a kind of price control on its products up to a certain level.
