How can your body make so many different antibodies (proteins) from just a select set of genes? (Please type answer and use proper complete sentences to give a well thought out answer.)
Gene is the part of DNA that contian all the information for the to do translation( formation of protiens). The haevy chain and light chains are are paired with each other to form a complete antibody having many and many antigen binding site.Antibodies are produced form ools of genes segments.Antibodies are actually produced by the WBC's ,specifically B-lymphocytes.When the antigen bind on surface B-lymphocytes , the B-lymphocyte cells starts division and mature into a group of similar or ideantical cells called antibodies. Our body can make so different types of antibodies because this variability hasbeen decided by the genes of T cells or B cells. Due the reason that both the Tcells and B cells conatains the genes for the formation of antibodies. So they can form the many different regions of light and heavy chains by rearrangement of their DNA.The fact is that a single antibody gene can form an antibody which is capable of forming millions of 3-dimensional structure and can combine with the antigen .

The human genome contains about 20,000 genes, but the human body can generate over 100,000 different proteins. How is it possible that humans have so few genes but can generate so many proteins? A. Humans likely have over 100,000 genes, but many have yet to be identified B. mRNAs of different genes can recombine to generate many different proteins C. the majority of proteins found within a cell are acquired from the environment D. mutations in DNA generate many versions...
Why is differential gene expression important? (Please type answer and use proper complete sentences to give a well thought out answer.)
If every cell in the body gets the same DNA, how do the cells of an embryo make different structures and take on different roles? (Select all that apply.) A. Different transcription factors are active in different cells. B. Different transcription factors are encoded in the DNA. C. Genes are spliced differently in different cells. D. Translation is regulated so that different cells may make more of certain proteins. E. Some cells lack ribosomes while others use them. F. Cells...

Select a committee of 3 people from your staff of 9. How many different ways can this be accomplished? Select a committee of 3 people from your staff of 9. How many different ways can this be accomplished when one person will be the lead, one will be the record keeper, and one will be the researcher?
Part 1 out of 2 Your B-cells can produce millions of different types of immunoglobulins (antibodies) even though here are only about 200 genes encoding the different parts of an antibody. The light chains of an antibody are assembled by joining a variable segment, a joining segment, and a constant segment from a single immunoglobulin gene. Gene rearrangement within an immunoglobulin gene brings together one of forty different variable segments with one of four different joining segments, and the single...

During an infection: One B cell can make more than two different antibodies, provided that they recognize the same antigen Each B-cell produces antibodies to a variety of antigens A variety of antibodies are produced by many B cells, but each B cell only produces one type of antibody The same type of antibody is produced by many B cells Bicoid is important for generation of the anterior-posterior axis by regulating expression of multiple...
