Organizational structure - The hierarchical arrangement of any organization that decides the flow of command, authority, communication, roles and responsibility. It also helps and organization to shape up the culture of the organization. For instance, if organization structure is centralized then the follow of command will be coming from top level of management. In this style of management the lower or bottom management follow orders. They're not free to give opinion/orders.
There is mostly six types of organization structure:
1) Functional Structure - This is very common type of structure where organization is divided into department and every department has a head who reports to CEO.
2) Product based divisional structure - In this department is again divided into small divisions. Mainly based on the different product provided by the organization. Every division has a head who has authority to take decision.
3) Market based - In this, every division is divided as per target market.
4) Process based - The organization is divided into the process based division. For ex : Account management, acquisition, R&D etc.
5) Matrix Structure - This is relatively new concept where every employee report to dual manager. For ex: An employee will be reporting to his immediate manager and project manager as well. Mostly happened in IT company.
