Ongoing or informal potential appraisals are aimed at improving the routing performance of employees. Along with advantages it has some disadvantages too.
1. Continuous appraisals may create a feeling in the employee that they are being continuously watched. It creates a sense of uneasiness. The employee may become frustrated at the though of continuous monitoring.
2. Informal appraisals may create conflict between employees and managers. Informal appraisals do not hold much significance, hence employees may not be willing to heed to the appraisals of their managers. This could potentially create conflict.
3. Informal appraisals demotivates employees; they get appraisals too frequently and after every task completion. Lack of performance in first two tasks and their appraisal will therefore demotivate employees.
