I am doing a report for "Isolation of Phototrophic Bacteria." I worked with R. rubrum which is a purple non - sulfur bacteria. We used an enrichment medium called "Ormerod's medium" which is a non-fermentable carbon source - malate. Could anyone explain to me how this works with this bacteria and what does the medium consist of.
Thank you!
The Ormerods medium consists of -
•2g/L Na-malate • 0.1g/L yeast extract • 0.2g/L MgSo4 × 7H2O •0.08g/L CaCl2 × H2O • 0.01g/L FeSO4 × 7H2O •0.9g/L K2HPO4 •0.6g/L KH2PO4 •1.25g/L (NH4)2 SO4 •0.02 g/L EDTA •0.028 g/L H3BO3 •0.021 g/L MnSO4x 4H2O •0.075 g/L Na2MoO4 x 2H2O •0.0024 g/L ZnSO4 x 2H2O •0.01 g/L Cu(NO3)2 x 3H2O •20g/L agar pH = 6.8-7.3
Rhodospirillim Rubrum is a phototrophic purple non-sulphur bacteria which show photoheterotrophic mode of metabolism. It means they grow in medium which contain readily usable organic compounds such as malate Or pyruvate using ammonia as nitrogen source.
Under phototrophic (anoxic/light) conditions, typical purple non-sulphur bacteria can gow photoautotrophic with H2 or low levels of sulphide as electron donors; a few species can use S2O3 or Fe2+ as photosynthetic electron donors.

I am doing a report on the synthesis of Dulcin from Phenetidine, Potassium Cyanate, and Acetic Acid. Potassium Cyanate reacts with Acetic Acid to form isocyanic acid, which then reacts with Phenetidine to produce Dulcin. 1) Why is it important to add acetic acid to the reaction mixture? What would happen if you forgot to add it? 2) Is it necessary to produce isocyanic acid in the reaction flask, or could it be preformed and added to the reaction flask...
Lab Report-Carbohydrates 1. Purpose 2. Special Media for Isolating Bacteria (Lab #12) a. Why are dyes such as phenol red, eosin or methylene blue added to the media? b. How does the bacterium change the media (i.e color of agar or colonies) after incubation? C. In this experiment, which media are selective, and which are differential? d. How did the results observe on the mannitol salt agar and EMB agar correlate to the Gram reaction of the bacteria? e. What...
Hello my name is Pete. I am looking to improve in this class and wanted to see if anyone would be able to help me with these questions. Thank you ahead of time. Here is the information. I am doing an Arduino Uno project where I made a "Simon says" memory game with 3 neopixel LED strips and 3 - ultrasonics. I have them working independently but I need to combine the code so they work together. Here is what I have: Memory Game #define PLAYER_WAIT_TIME 2000 // The time allowed between button presses - 2s byte sequence[100]; // Storage for the light sequence byte curLen = 0; // Current length of the sequence byte inputCount =...

72 Report 100 HISTORY: Mr. Meyer is a 48-year-old, divorced, white male who was admitted after he was found lying on the floor in his apartment. Evidently, he had taken a fall, and he had some bruises on his face and tongue. Later, during the hospitalization, he developed delirium tremens and required to go on the ventilator. Earlier this week, I also came to see this patient, but at that time, he was given a dose of Haldol, and he...

report.
This is the lab experiment and results:
This is a guide to making the lab report:
General Biology BIO121 Yeast Fermentation Lab Introduction Organisms stay alive by the utilization of energy through metabolism. The energy acquiring pathways in photosynthesis convert radiant energy from the sun into the chemical bond energy of carbohydrates. This photosynthetic process is limited to the producers or autotrophs, which include plants, photosynthetic bacteria and some protists....
Hey I really need some help asap!!!! I have to take the node class that is in my ziplist file class and give it it's own file. My project has to have 4 file classes but have 3. Hi there! I need to compare two essay into 1 essay, and make it interesting and choose couple topics which im going to talk about in my essay FIRST ESSAY “Teaching New Worlds/New Words” bell hooks Like desire, language disrupts, refuses to be contained within boundaries. It speaks itself against our will, in words and thoughts that intrude, even violate the most private spaces of mind and body. It was in my first year of college that I read Adrienne...
