I am working on male mental health and the stigma in pursuing behavioral health care because of cultural influences. Latin American males seem to conform to the Machoism their culture; however, it does not appear to be extreme such as a patriarchal society? What is the difference?

In Latin American countries like Mexico, machoism or machista are common. Machism is related to the exaggerated pride of masculinity of men and under it, men are responsible for the safety and protection of the family. It is a different form of patriarchal society because machis is milder than patriarchalism.

In Latin American culture, machoism is widely accepted a part society due to increased sexism,rapes, violence against women Machoism is facing serious criticism. A patriarchal society governed by males and females is impressed in it.

Patriarchal societies are common in middle eastern countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran etc. and Asian countries like India, Pakistan, Afghanistan etc.
