Control and Dexamethasone-treated c2c12 cells from day 3 (proliferation) have been flurocently labelled for the glucocorticoid receptor using immunocytochemistry. Describe the differences in localization of this receptor that was observed between the control and the dexmethasone treated cells.

Glucocorticoid receptor mediates the cellular response to glucocorticoid. Glucocorticoid receptor is abundantly expressed C2c12 myogenic differntiation.
Subcellular localization of GR in control C2c12 is primarily in the cytoplasm. Upon dexamethason exposure , GR is activated and translocates to the nucleus in the c2c12 cells.

Before control charts are invented, the process engineers have been routinely making line charts that illustrate the relationship between the quality characteristic measurements and the measurement index. These line charts show how the quality characteristics vary over time. Describe at least two differences between control charts and these line charts and discuss what are the benefit of using control charts over using line charts.

You want to do RAC activation assay from your BJ cells and T cells. After that, you want to compare the results? What technique should you use and how can you do that? Please list and briefly describe some differences between bacterial and animal cells that have not been targeted with antibiotics. For each one you list indicate whether you think this could be a target and why.
Depletion of cholesterol in the cell membrane using a drug (mevastatin) has been associated with apoptosis in cancer cells. a. What effect would cholesterol depletion have on the integrity of lipid rafts in the membrane? b. Researchers found that FAS death receptor was activated in cholesterol depleted cancer cells. Explain how activation of this receptor activates killer caspases. c. When a caspase is converted from its inactive to its active form there are changes in the primary and tertiary structure...
32. Study the signaling pathway illustrated below, which involves two different receptors. Assume that a protein is active only when it is activated, but not inhibited, by its upstream signaling molecules. Activation and inhibition are indicated by normal and blunt arrows, respectively. Assume that the transcription regulator can be activated by either the binding protein or the kinase that are immediately upstream of the transcription factor. Under which of the following conditions will the expression of target:gene "X" be induced?...
Question Set 3 (20 pts) As discussed in class, the pluripotential properties of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) were demonstrated by classic studies of marking cells by retroviral transduction and using these cells to reconstitute irradiated mice to make a "bone marrow chimera". Then one assesses fate based on integration sites in the haematopoietically derived cells. Recent studies such as those by Rodriguez-Fraticelli et al. 2018. Clonal Analysis of Lineage Fate in Native Hematopoiesis. Nature 553: 212 (PMC: 5884107) have used...
5. Embryonic stem cells are derived from embryos. They are specifically obtained from eggs that have been fertilized in vitro for an infertile couple in an in-vitro fertilization clinic. These are excess fertilized eggs that are donated for research with informed consent of the donors. Medical researchers believe that stem cells have great potential for helping to repair, even regenerate, damaged human tissue, even nerve tissue. Would a Kantian approve of using human embryonic stem cells for medical research and...
