Ans- The sources of carbon and nitrogen atoms in the two nucleotides are-:

a) For purine ring-

-> Glycine provides 2 Carbon atoms and 1 Nitrogen atom.

-> Glutamine provide 2 Nitrogen atoms.

-> Aspartic acid provides 1 Nitrogen atom.

-> Formyl groups provide 2 Carbon atoms.

b) For Pyrimidine formation-

-> Aspartate provides 3 Carbon atoms and 1 Nitrogen atom.

-> Carbamoyl phosphate provides 2 Carbon and 3 Nitrogen atoms.

-> Bicarbonates also provides Nitrogen atoms.
