FN #2: Discuss your rationale of why the nursing process is the first tool you need to learn to “think like a nurse.”
Nursing process is a very important method designed for nurses. It is the priority process to think like a nurse.
Nursing process is used worldwide by the nurses to provide quality care to the patient. Nursing process serves as guide to the nurses to help them think and work in an organised style.
Nursing process provide the nurses with the knowledge to strike a balance between personal interpretations and evidence based practices. It helps nurses to make sound decisions and professional judgements by using the critical thinking.
Nursing process helps the nurses to apply their professional knowledge and skills while providing care to the patient. It also helps the nurses to make fair decisions when nurses are in ethical and professional dilemmas.
Nursing process includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. The assessment includes thoroughly assessing the patient objectively and subjectively. This will provide as a firm base for the nursing diagnosis. Once the nurse is able to know where the problem is next step is to plan the line of treatment. The treatment is then implemented. Evaluation includes evaluating the patient condition and making out if the treatment is effective or not.
Following the steps of nursing process helps nurses to provide better and efficient services and care to the patient. This will help patient to recover faster, reduced hospital stay and better population health.
