Explain the difference between twitch and tetanus. Give two reasons why the force generated by a single twitch is so much lower than the maximal tetanic force. Graph the concepts of twitch, summation, incomplete tetanus, and complete tetanus.

Twitch is a one complete cycle of contraction and relaxation of muscles. Twitch usually last for 0.007 sec to 0.1 sec where's the addition of many twitches lead to the sustained contraction called as tetanus. The force generated by single twitch is so much lower than the maximal tetanic force because twitch is generated by the isolated action potential in the muscle fiber. This action potential is not able to generate enough stimulus according to the "all or none concept".
