Obesity in simple refers to an increase in weight often termed to be over weight. An individual is termed obese only when their BMI is greater them 30kg/m².Here there is great variation between the amount of calories consumed and the amount used. Due to lack of exercise, dietary habits, lifestyles,sedentary lifestyle,genetic cause ,medical conditions etc., can make an individual prone for obesity. There will be increased deposition of adipose tissues in the body leading in increased weight gain. Some of the comorbidities associated with this disease are cardiovascular problems, diabetes, gall stones,cancer of liver,or preeclampsia in pregnant women ,joint pain,sleep apnoea PCOD in women,etc.,The first line of treatment are dietary modifications, daily exercise ,lifestyle changes.Of nit settled down oral medications are given under medical supervision. Again if weight does not comes down surgical intervention are done to reduce appetite, reduce the gastrointestinal part and reduce the quantity of food consumed ,etc.,Hence it is always better to take some precautionary methods rather than treating the obesity to lead a quality and healthy life.
