Ans: Zoo is place where animal are kept in a protected enclosure for public view only and they can even mate there to increase their population. They can help in protecting the wildlife firstly by promoting the agenda of protection of biodiversity and secondly by providing the animals a safe shelter to survive and thrive. As we all know that over exploitation of forests and hunting of animals for their various use has already cause substantial damage to the wild life resulting in loss of many species like African black rhino,  Baiji white dolphin, Pyrenean Ibex,Tasmanian Tiger, etc and many more like leopard, gorilla, orangutan are in the verge of extinction, zoos can provide a place for their survival. Like the giant panda project in China where their numbers are increased by protective breeding other species can also be helped in such a way and the best place to do that is in a zoo, it will also help to create sympathy and awareness amongst the masses about the animal's condition. So, basically zoos will be a best option for all round protection of endangered animals and proper monitoring for better understanding of them and once their population starts thriving they can be released in the wild.
