Importance of Leadership and Communication Skills for a Care Giver.

Before going in depth first let us understand the terms Good Leadership and Good Communication

  • Good Leadership: A good leader takes a lead and had clear vision with ambition to succeed i.e. motivation in terms of physical and psychological goals as a Care Giver.
  • Good Communication : This is the ability to convey information in an efficient manner with good modes ether verbal or non verbal which is very important for a Care Giver to motivate.

Leader Ship styles for a Care Giver E.g.. Nurse.

1. Autocratic leader ship: Autocrat nurse is the one who leads and makes all decisions. Gives specific instructions to subordinates.

This style works in emergency situations and to adhere with strict medical guidelines. This will not work in building team work.

2.Laissez - Faire Leadership : This is opposite to autocrat. No specific directions to team members can be given.

This works with a experienced team and does not work in emergency situations with a non experienced team.

3. Democratic Leadership style: Takes inputs and feedbacks from subordinates.

This builds a trusting relation ship but does not work for emergency decision making situations.

4. Transformational Leadership: Care Giver focuses on big picture and formulates plan to reach the goal.

This works better in hospital, clinic and healthcare facility.

5. Servant Leadership: This leader targets on team member needs with a formula of achieving individual to groups.

After all the above considerations according to me Transformational Leadership is the best style.

Best Communication Techniques or Styles for a Care Giver E.g..Nurse

1. Assertive :Ability to express positive and negative ideas openly.
