Servant leadership

Leadership is the capacity of a person to lead others. Servant leadership is different from other leadership and the term ' Servant leadership ' got publicity by the writings of Robert K Green leaf. Servant leadership refers to a leadership style in which the leader helps or serves the employees and focuses on the personal growth of the employees, this in turn contributes to the development of the organizations or a company.

1. Displays of humility and servant leadership

The characteristics of being humble or humbleness in character and behaviour is called Humility. Display of humility by a leader exemplifies the ' Servant leadership style ' . If a leader is having the quality of humility, he will not have 'false pride'( thinking more about himself and trying to promote himself in anyway),instead he will think of himself less and will not judge others as less than himself. Humility helps a leader to encourage and motivate others. In Servant leadership , leaders have the humility and they consider others are more valuable than themselves and they will not show ego or autocracy .

2. Humility and other leadership styles

Usually in leadership other than Servant leadership style, humility is not much displayed. Leaders show their power and put themselves first and controls the followers. Ego of the leaders work first in other leadership styles. Humility is one special trait that can seen in Servant leadership.

3. Display of humility make others to feel that they are important:

Display of humility make others to feel more important than you. Leaders who have humility have the courage, meantime they accept that they can be helped or benefited by others' (employees') skills and knowledge. By displaying humility, leaders allow the employees to grow personally by giving them opportunity to perform in various ways and encouraging them or helping them in the best possible way. Personal growth of employees make them more committed to the organization and there by organizational growth can be achieved. Leaders humility will increase employees' responsibility, ownership and even their autonomy in their works.
