Answer #1

I am a fond of my previous hospital ICU's team leader. He is such an efficient male nurse that he can even manage the ICU without a doctor . He is the back bone of that ICU. Newly joined junior physicians used to learn some procedures like hemodialysia catheter insertions etc from him. He follows a democratic leadership style ,helps everyone in taking care of the patient , comes on time before other staffs comes for the duty .He is concerned about all the patient's rather than being concerned about his own allotted patients . After finishing his work he helps other staffs in their work. Interacts with the patient's and encourage staff to be confident enough and work efficiently .

He is not a strict Hitler kind of personality . He involves every staff in the meetings and takes their viewpoints and opinions before making any decision. He uses evidence based practice in patient care . Strict about Hand Washing and personal protective equipments with the rationale to safe ourselves and to safe the patient's .

I was really worried to work in the intensive area but because of the presence of him it was a relief for me . He taught me how to do the care and other paper works as it was the first time I was posted in ICU as a staff nurse . He taught every important things to be followed initially including the rules and policies of the hospital and then the other things . He used to taught me things by giving rationales which helped me to learn things fast and fix them in my mind . Everyone was happy to work under his guidance ,no workload, everyone helped each other and no complications with high patient outcomes .

In future , if I also become a leader then I would follow the key aspects followed by him . Use of democratic leadership style and will involve staffs in making decisions . No workloads , good interpersonal relationship with other staffs and patients and use of evidence based practice in patient care . All this features will help the staffs to be happy and work efficiently ,hence leads to staff satisfaction and increase patient outcome
