Answer #1

Escaped – Based NCR scheduled of every 30 seconds

The term NCR means Non Contingent Reinforcement. For making plan to mend the disruptive behaviour of a child, the teacher needs to identify the problem first. Without proper identification NCR will not be implemented. It needs a definite and skillful method for implementation.

  • In a class room the teacher finds that a child is disturbing other child near him and the even the other child may report this nature of the child to the teacher in absence of the concerned student. Then the teacher starts his NCR plan and finds that the child disturbs the others at least eight times in a class of 40 minutes.

Following the method of NCR plan the teacher keeps notice to the children every 30 second interval. His plan is to catch the child at the moment of disturbance. When he first succeeds to catch the child first time, he advises him according to the code of discipline and the need of discipline in life.

First day, he keeps vigilance to the child very frequently, every 30 second interval. Next day, he should also notice the child in the same way. According to the NCR plan he continues his notice to the children and gradually the frequency of the notice should be lessened. Gradually, it will be after 50 second, and then 1 minute and so on.

At the same time the teacher should engage the child with various activities and must praise positively. His effort should be acknowledged and he should be given importance. When the child gets more importance from the teacher and is aware about the continuous attention of the teacher his problematic behaviour is gradually reduced.

  • In some case it is found that some children bear lack of interest to response or participate actively in a group work. The teacher or counselor should arrange a group work as part of NCR where the children with problematic behaviour must participate. The teacher should give importance to them and praise them continually. This reinforcement helps them to be normal from such lack of interest. When the teacher plans NCR, he should not remind about the problem or never let the child know his problem. He should encourage and reinforce and the problem will decrease spontaneously.
  • In practical situation we sometimes find the deaf child with aggressive and unnatural behaviour. The teacher should identify the problem first. By NCR he can bring slowly the expected behaviour from the child. When he is provided with multiple sound with special audio device, he must be changed and his outburst of passion will decrease.
