Answer #1

1. No. The principles and ethics followed by the Christian manager are his ideologies and the manner in which he lives. Also, the Christian beliefs are true and take into account the several individuals and their families who would be disturbed by such decisions of downsizing. Hence, I suggest the Christian manager must speak up and be vocal about his feelings and innovate new strategies wherein the additional manpower (the people who were to be laid off) can help in expanding the firm or the existing product lines. Re-location of employees such that the firms are strengthen and the employees get to keep their jobs is successfully achieved.

2. Though it seems to be difficult, it is not in actual. The simple answer to this is organizational cultural development. The organization's culture must be such that employees do not compete with each other or simply follow the professional relationship, but there is a personal touch to professionalism. People are valued and their opinions and ideas are encouraged. They are intrinsically motivated. Thus, the structural elements are undisturbed even though, there is a huge change in the motivation and productivity levels of employees.

3. Mid-level managers are the ones sandwiched between the top and bottom level managers. They have the task to ensure the bottom-level managers deliver the necessary targets. However, they have to maintain a delicate balance between the two. The can empathize with the bottom-level as well as ensure they receive the necessary tools, trainings, provisions, etc. to achieve their targets.

As for other managers, they need to be realistic. Focus on the goal. However, the goals must be SMART i.e. Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-bound.
