Answer #1

1.- You have to divide the time required by the number of base changes, that is:

60/8 = 7.5 million years

Your teacher made a mistake, the answer is not in the options. I could bet he meant to write 40 million years in the exercise data so "5 million years" would be the answer

2.- a) Salamanders are equally related to crocodiales and mice. For salamanders, crocodiles and mice are both species inside of a group that is the sister group to them (salamanders)

3.- e) 1, 2, 3, 5, 4. Both photosynthesis and ETC appeared before the eukaryotic cell, but ETC appeared after photosynthesis since it requires the oxygen from this one. Then, Cryogenian period occurred before animals colonized the land, in this period actually lies the origin of animals

4.- b) None of these is true. Remember that the expression "more evolved" is invalid in biological evolution, all the species in a given time moment are just equally evolved but in different directions

Until recently, there were two competing theories about the origin of our species- "modern Homo sapiens". The first (single African origin) is that all modern humans descended from a recent ancestor in Africa, less than 200,000 years ago, and that our ancestors replaced the archaic human species they found in their migrations, including Neanderthals and Denisovans. (In the last few years evidence from nuclear genomes of fossil humans has indicated that there was limited interbreeding between the ancestors of modern...

All of the features below are features that characterize humans, though very few of them are unique to humans. Rather, most of them are present in our species because of our evolutionary history (they were present in an ancestral species at some point in time, and eventually passed on to us). For example, the bilateral symmetry that characterizes the human body plan is a feature that evolved in a primitive animal species that lived hundreds of millions of years ago;...

Will give a like if answer all these questions! Part A Assess whether the current dramatic decline in sharks is more likely the effect of background extinction or a mass extinction. (Some shark populations have dropped to just 5 percent of their former abundance over the past few decades due to overfishing.) O Overfishing is more similar to a mass extinction event than to background extinction, because sharks are harvested no matter how well adapted they are to their environment....

Males and females inherit these diseases at an equal rate, gender does not influence the DNA. 3. Females inherit these diseases twice as often as males, because they have two...
